Extended Tour - From Yangon

Pick up from hoteland overland drive to PYAY (280km – 6 hours), the ancient PYU Capital and the center of the most intensive archaeological work in Myanmar. Arrive PYAY and check in at hotel. In the afternoon, visit the busy CENTRAL MARKET, CHEROOT MAKING FACTORY and SHWESANDAW PAGODA; one of the most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage spots in Myanmar. An enormous seated Buddha figure rises up from the tree line adjacent to Shwesandaw and enjoy sunset there. After dinner at a local restaurant, return to hotel and overnight.
Breakfast at hotel. Today, continue Pyay sightseeing includes BAWBAWGYI PAGODA,PAYAMA STUPA with its architecture resembles ancient Indian style and HMAW ZAR Archeological Museum. After lunch at a local restaurant, drive to HTONE BO (about 2 hours); a native town of National Hero ThakhinMya. From the Jetty, take a private boat along the mighty Ayeyarwaddy river to visit AKUK TAUNG (the hill of levying taxes) named after the tradition of the collection of taxes to the boat passing through the hill during the colonial times. There, you will see a beautiful carving of Buddha in various postures can be witnessed by floating along the mountain side on the boat in Ayeyarwaddy River. On top, you can visit a monastery and another 40 minutes you will see a waterfall is like "U-shape" and it looks like valley between two mountains. If the water falls, the scenery is very good. In the evening, drive back to Pyay and overnight at hotel.
After breakfast at hotel, drive to SHWETAUNG. En-route, visit the famous SHWEMYETMAN Buddha Image; a reference to a large, white-faced sitting Buddha wearing a gargantuan set of eyeglasses with gold-plated rims inside the main shrine. Eyeglasses were donated during the KONE BAUNG era and saying that this image can cure illnesses especially for eyes. Then, drive back to Yangon and lunch at a local restaurant. Arrive Yangon and transfer to hotel.

After breakfast at hotel, transfer to airport for PUTAO. Arrive Putao and transfer to Malikha Lodge in time for lunch.In the afternoon, make an ELEPHANT EXCURSIONafter return of two elephants from a night of foraging in the jungle. Setting off from the Main Lodge, the elephants take you through the fast flowing clear waters of the NAM LANG RIVER and up through the terraced rice fields to the village of YEGYAWDI opposite our lodge or downstream along the banks for the Nam Lang River, before a final river crossing brings you back to the lodge. By prior arrangement, there is the opportunity to view the elephants being washed by the mahouts. Dinner and drinks at the main lodge in front of open fireplaces. Overnight at MALIKHA LODGE, Putao.
After breakfast, today full day excursion combines gentle rafting from MULASHIDI suspension bridge by the Lodge down the Nam Lang to join Malikhariver, through its scenic river gorge to our picnic spot. A picnic lunch is prepared in a spectacular riverside beach inside the gorge. From there, venture downstream in Malikha Lodge's own long boat on the Malikha River through forested hills and past white river beaches, where villagers may often be seen panning for gold until arrival at the picturesque village of MACHANBAW. After a short stroll through the village return by vehicle to Malikha Lodge in time for sunset. Overnight.
You will have the opportunity to experience and learn about life in MULASHIDI village and the PUTAO VALLEY and view some of the cottage industries. For early birds, there is also the chance to visit the PUTAO MARKET, to try a steaming bowl of Shan noodle soup for breakfast and to practice your haggling skills over spectacular RAWANGVILLAGE HEADMAN WOVEN HATS, COLORFUL LONGYIS and FINE BASEKETS. After lunch at Malikha Lodge, there will have many bike and trek routes to follow with guides from the Lodge –this will discuss and arrange upon guests' arrival depending on each level of fitness and special interests. Returning to the Lodge in the evening for a hot bath in the fabulous teak bathtubs and/or a massage from the own spa staff in Bungalow is a very welcome treat. The last evening, guests are invited to a hosted group dinner in the Main Lodge. Dinner and overnight.
After a final leisurely breakfast at Malikha Lodge, check out. Transfer to Airport to connect with your onwards flight to next destination or to YANGON.

Pick up from hotel to transfer to airport for domestic flight to MYITKYINA. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel and check in. This town is a quiet provincial capital where the majority of the people are Kachin Christians, although part of the downtown area has a Muslim population. Visit the small Cultural Museum (if open) and see traditional artefacts, tribal costumes, cooking utensils, etc. In the afternoon, visit KAREIN NAW, a small amusement and recreation site on the bank of Ayeyarwady River. Sit and relax there for a while. Good weather permitting, the view can be picturesque. Next to KareinNaw, visit a small LISU VILLAGE. Overnight at hotel in Myitkyina.
After breakfast at hotel, drive out of Myitkyina to MYIT SONE (27 miles, approx. 1 hour drive). Here you will see the confluence of MAY KHA and MALI KHA Rivers, and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the surrounding mountains. This confluence marks the beginning of the mighty Ayeyarwady River which flows all the way through Myanmar and south of Yangon. On the way back to town, stop at JAW BUN (“bun” means mountain and “jaw” means 100th Anniversary of Christianity in Burma). The tower, JAW LANGCHYI was built in commemoration of 100 years Christianity –since 1877 in Burma, offers panoramic view over the surroundings area. Overnight at hotel in Myitkyina.
Breakfast at hotel. Today, visit the CENTRAL MARKET and if time permits, stop at a BUDDHIST NUNNERY, to take a glimpse of life of Myanmar Buddhist Nuns. Continue to drive out of the city towards WASHAUNG DAM. Today’s visit highlights the LOCAL VILLAGES. You will stop villages along the way to observe life in this northern part of Myanmar. Drive back to hotel in the afternoon. The afternoon is free to follow individual interests. Overnight.
Breakfast at hotel. Today’s tour starts with early morning WET MARKET. Continue to the WEAVING QUARTER and walk through various workshops producing colorfullongyis (for both ladies and men), shawls, shoulder bags etc. Kachin-style hand-woven fabrics are special and rich in designs, remarked as a brand in traditional fashion market throughout the country. One of a must see places is the local-style hand weaving called JAT-KHOKE. This cottage industry is not widely practice anymore but can still be seen in remote highland villages. In the afternoon, drive along the Strand Road with remains of colonial buildings and continue visit to HSU-TAUNG-PYI PAGODA on the banks of the Ayeyarwady River. Overnight.
After breakfast at hotel, transfer to Myitkyina Airport for morning flight back to YANGON or next destination
